Living our Mission – supporting the RFDS

15 April 2010

Anyone who has travelled through the Outback (or is a fan of Australian soap operas from the 1980s) will appreciate just how crucial the existence of the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) is to remote Australia.

We recently made two donations to RFDS totalling $40,000 and already we are seeing how this donation has been able to make a difference.

The first $10,000 from our donation went toward the installation of new runway lights at Packsaddle – which is a remote roadhouse and airstrip 175km north of Broken Hill. The runway lights are vital to ensuring that the RFDS aircraft can land safely at any time of the day or night.

A further $30,000 will be used to supply RFDS remote clinics including Wiawera, Yunta, Innamincka, Tilpa, Louth, Wanaaring and Hungerford with medical equipment for visiting RFDS doctors and nurses.

Access to appropriate healthcare is an important focus for us, making the decision to support groups like the RFDS an easy one.  To learn more about what they do, visit their website on www.flyingdoctors.org.au
